Marturanum grows from a desire of bringing art and dance outside of the traditional places of distribution. This project aims at activating the territory by inviting dance professionals to train, research, and present their art for several weeks in the summer in the historical village of Barbarano Romano (IT).

The workshop was an experience much deeper than simply dance. The work and the environment created in Barbarano Romano led me to reflect on my habits, my ability to change and adapt, and, above all, on a different way of thinking and being within the creative process.
I was deeply inspired by Elio’s way of dancing and by the ideas shared during the work, particularly by the humanity and naturalness that characterize his approach.Living in Barbarano for two weeks was a gift and an important opportunity for renewal. An experience I would like to continue in the future.

Thank you for this experience. Elio and Julia accompanied each participant with great care and humanity, offering tools to approach a different practice full of new possibilities.
I particularly appreciated the attention, curiosity, and depth with which the workshop encouraged me to observe and reflect on the work. An important experience that will help me continue to grow within the world of dance.
Eleni Papailia Voutsina (2026)
An extraordinary experience, in a location that was perfect for research and concentration. Elio’s working method was initially challenging, but precisely this difficulty allowed me to overcome my limits, discover new ways of thinking, and finally feel free within the creative process.
Julia’s support was fundamental. The group, despite coming from different backgrounds and despite the audition nature of the workshop, also became very close and supportive.
A unique experience that I wished could have continued, and I hope to experience it again by working with them in the future.
Sylwia Klonowska (2026)
It was not simply a workshop or an audition, but something much deeper. In Barbarano Romano, through meeting the other participants, Julia, and Elio, I took an important step forward in my journey of self-discovery.In the midst of everyday life, it is easy to lose contact with your inner voice. Barbarano Romano allowed me to find it again.
Although we came from different parts of the world, through dance we spoke the same language, while remaining unique and deeply individual.
I am grateful from the bottom of my heart and will carry this experience with me forever.
Sonya Speizer (2026)

I deeply appreciated the time devoted to exploration, concentration, and going deeper into the process.
I returned home with new memories, inspiration, and material to continue working on. A rare and privileged experience, lived in a special place like Barbarano Romano.

The two weeks in Barbarano Romano were a deeply meaningful experience, rich in new sensations, thoughts, and discoveries. The workshop allowed me to deepen my understanding of myself, both as an artist and as a person, finding clarity, awareness, and freedom in movement. The language explored brought me back to the roots of the way I move, while opening up new possibilities and pathways.
I particularly appreciated the strong connection between the daily work and the company’s creative process, as well as the concepts of continuous research, respect for the work, and openness to change.
I take with me great inspiration and a new awareness of the value of collective work, exchange, and the ability to allow ourselves to be transformed by others.
An experience that will continue to live in my body and influence my artistic and personal journey.

Workshop-Audition 3 was an intense and deeply meaningful experience, characterized by a balance between structure, experimentation, discipline, and creative freedom. The work challenged me emotionally as well, encouraging me to develop greater presence, concentration, and self-confidence, particularly by learning not to depend on external attention.
The experience left something lasting and strengthened my desire to continue this kind of research.
Thank you for creating a space that is demanding, human, and deeply inspiring.

The workshop helped me enormously during a difficult moment in my life.
I deeply appreciated the knowledge and tools shared by Elio and the opportunity to work with an interesting group in a creative and liberating environment.
It was an important and stimulating experience that left me wanting to continue working with Elio and the company. Despite receiving other opportunities in Stockholm, I consider this possibility a priority.
Annie Carlson (2023)
The workshop in Barbarano Romano left me enriched and deeply inspired. It was my first experience with Feldenkrais, and I appreciated the work with personal material and improvisation, which allowed me to continually discover new possibilities.I also found the cultural and human context particularly valuable: sharing dinners, visiting Viterbo and Tarquinia, going on excursions, and connecting with the local community strengthened my connection to the place and to the other dancers.
Living in the village and dancing in the church were among the most significant moments of the experience.
Nikol Stiebielieva (2026)
An experience that went far beyond dance. The two weeks in Barbarano Romano allowed me to rediscover a calmer and more conscious way of researching, developing, and creating, without the need to rush. This process gave me greater clarity, a deeper understanding of the body and mind, and new possibilities...
