"Between Me&me"
By Itzel Limón Díaz & Milena Bialik-Borowiec
Where does the influence of the world end and our own free will begin?
This dance performance asks a powerful question about human independence in a world full of noise, algorithms, and social pressure. Inspired by limina- the state of waiting right before making a choice- this duet explores the tension
between our Authentic Self (ME) and external distractions (me).
The dancers do not give ready answers. Through an intimate and physical dialogue, they challenge the audience to look inside themselves. It is a moving reflection on the most precious human gift: free will.
Can we still find it before it is lost in the noise?
"_Hello Hello_"
By Micah Shapiro
_Hello Hello_ came pouring out of a desire to make a vulnerable and honest dance. I was frustrated by the feeling that craft and training had formed a film between my inner self and the lived moment of dancing: I decided to rip it all away. Screw composition, screw concept, screw imagery. Screw the impressive, the convincing, the intentionally-loose-but-thematically-nailed-down. Instead awareness, desire and emotion led me here. To a dance of sensitizing, tapping into myself and opening my sensing system to my environment. A dance of opening and reopening, attempting and reattempting, introducing and reintroducing and the time/space between. _Hello Hello_ is a way for me to try to really meet [myself, you, the moment] unguarded.
